Matt Clemons is Aardvark's Florida Kayak Company's lead guide. He also serves as Director of Eco-Heritage Tours. Matt has spent his life protecting Florida's environment. After receiving degrees in Marine Science and Wildlife Biology and spending a 17 year career serving with several State of Florida conservation agencies, Matt has rejoined the private sector with the formation of Aardvark's Florida Kayak Company. Susan E. Clemons is co-owner and serves as Director of Operations. There are only two of us, so we both wear a lot of other hats as well. Susan has an equal love and respect of wild animals and Florida's environment. She has spentmost of her adult life protecting and interpreting Florida's irreplaceable natural and culturalresources as a Florida Park Service Ranger. Susan was one of the first female state parkrangers and taught advanced interpretation at ranger academy.
Susan spent 32 years (her entire career) headquartered at the Crystal River Archaeological State Park. She was also responsible for programs at the Yulee Sugar Mill State Park. Before her retirement, she was the longest serving employee at the Park and has accumulated extensive knowledge of Florida's pre-columbian culture.
We offer guided tours led by a professional paddler and biologist. We offer something for every level of experience.
Our tours come from a somewhat different perspective in that the trip leader has actual research experience with manatees and 15 years field experience in wildlife management and
biology in the area where we will be paddling. As a preserve manager, Matt has a true
understanding of eco-tourism. Susan has spent 30 years as a Florida Park Ranger and in
addition to being a professional paddler, has extensive experience in interpretation of Florida's
Ecology and Heritage.
We understand that true Eco-Tourism revolves around small groups and features minimal
intrusion and a leave no trace ethic. That's what you'll find at Aardvark's Florida Kayak
Company. In keeping with our philosophy of quality over quantity, we tour only small groups
and go out of our way to avoid the crowds. We have been professional paddle sport outfitters
for nearly 20 years.
