Crystal River Paddler’s Picnic and Aardvark’s Customer Appreciation Day

When: Saturday February 20, 2010 10 am to 2 pm
Where: Crystal River, Florida

Come join the Aardvarks and friends for a day of paddle fun and camaraderie. This year we’ve decided to take our Eddyline Owners Day and open it to all our customers and friends. Eddyline owners are a special bunch and we are sure they’ll be willing to share the day and the fun. We are also going to crown an Aardvark’s Paddler of the Year.

We’ll start the day at Hunter Springs with kayak demos, a competition slalom course and a skills demonstration by Don and Donna of Big D’s. Big Fun! We’ll end the on water portion around 1 pm and move on back to Aardvark’s shop for some good eats. Bring a covered dish and byob. We’ll provide hot dogs and roasted oysters. Bring a lawn chair too! Bring a sales receipt from Aardvark’s and receive a free raffle ticket. We’ll have a number of prizes and gift certificates.

The festivities are scheduled to start at 10 am. We’ll have two courses set up. One will be a slalom course and you can run against the clock for best time. The other will be a drag race single elimination. There will be two classes: 14′ and under, and 14.5′ and over. We’ll have medals three deep for the winners. Entry fee is $10 per event with your own boat. The $10 fee gets you 3 runs at the slalom course, a raffle ticket for our “paddles like a brick kayak giveaway”, and along with your covered dish, the picnic spread. If you pre-register before January 20th 2010, you are guaranteed a T-shirt included in the $10. If any are left, they’ll be available for purchase at the picnic. We’ll also have rental boats available if you want to race something faster than what you’ve got.

In addition to the races, Don and Donna from Big D’s will be performing their PrecisionMania and we’ll have Tahoe Paddle boards for demo. Yai Yai’s is a salon/sushi bar/auto detailing establishment on US 19 near the airport. They have an extensive menu including tapas and sushi of all sorts along with wine, beer, wellness shakes, tea, coffee wine tinis, and sake.

Haven’t been there yet, but sounds promising. Check them out.
